Sunny Afternoon, Vikings Rescheduled and Del Rey Day

The National Weather Service says we can expect a warm afternoon today, but temperatures will start cooling Saturday.

Today is Oct. 14. It is the 287th day of the year. We are under a waning gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 6:22 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for today calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 80 with patchy fog after 11 p.m. and an overnight low around 61 degrees. Forecasters expect patchy dense fog Saturday morning and clouds through midmorning with sunshine in the afternoon and a high around 68 degrees.

2. The high school football game matching undefeated St. Bernard High School of Playa del Rey against unbeaten Don Bosco Tech High School of Rosemead has been rescheduled to Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Bosco Tech. Both of the Del Rey League squads are 6-0.

3. The Del Rey Neighborhood Council met last night and approved funding for the Nov. 13 Del Rey Day at Glen Alla Park. The community event's "Picnic in the Park" theme will feature a picnic blanket give-away to the first 100 families. Check back here later for more details.

4. Have you checked out our new real-time traffic report? The map is updated with traffic conditions around Marina del Rey every five minutes and you can also zoom in and out and change locations. It's right here.
