Sunny Afternoon, Vikings Rout and Blog for Patch

The National Weather Service says we can expect a sunny afternoon today and Tuesday with highs near 69 degrees.

Today is Oct. 17. It is the 290th day of the year. We are under a waning gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 6:19 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 69 degrees with clear skies tonight and an overnight low around 58 degrees. Forecasters expect a sunny day tomorrow with a high near 69 degrees.

2. St. Bernard High School of Playa del Rey remained undefeated this season after crushing previously unbeaten Bosco Tech 48-7 over the weekend. The St. Bernard Vikings are now 7-0, including 3-0 in Del Rey League play.
