Sunny Afternoons, County Redistricting and Upcoming Meetings

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will consider redistricting Tuesday at its meeting downtown and some interest groups claim the newly drawn boundaries violate the Voting Rights Act.

Today is Aug. 8. It is the 220th day of the year. We are under a waxing gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 7:49 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 68 degrees with patchy fog after 11 p.m. and an overnight low around 60 degrees. Forecasters expect patchy fog Tuesday morning that will gradually clear to sunny with a high near 70 degrees.

2. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will consider redistricting options Tuesday at its board meeting downtown. Some interest groups claim that proposed new boundaries violate the Voting Rights Act. Details right here.

3. The Del Rey Neighborhood Council meets Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott in Del Rey. The meeting agenda is here.
