Sunny Afternoons, Emergency Alert System Test and Post Your Events on Patch

The National Weather Service says it will be sunny and warm today and Thursday, but a storm is moving in and rain is expected Friday and Saturday.

Today is Nov. 9. It is the 313th day of the year. We are under a waxing gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 4:56 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 75 degrees with a mostly clear night and an overnight low around 51 degrees. It should be mstly sunny Thursday with a high near 78 degrees. A strong storm system is moving into the region from the Pacific Ocean and likely will bring heavy rain Friday and Saturday.

2. Don't stress, it was just a test. The Federal Emergency Management Agency helped conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System earlier this morning at 11 a.m. Did you experience the test?
