Sunny Afternoons, Hahn Sworn In, Blog for Patch

Janice Hahn takes office today representing the 36th Congressional District.

Today is July 19. It is the 200th day of the year. We are under a waning gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 8:05 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 74 degrees with patchy fog after 11 p.m. and an overnight low around 62 degrees. Forescasters say it should be foggy Wednesday morning, but will gradually clear to sunny with a high near 73 degrees.

2. Janice Hahn was officially sworn in today as the Congress member representing the 36th Congressional District. Hahn beat Republican rival Craig Huey last week in a special general election held to replace the seat left vacant when former Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice) resigned to join a Washington, D.C.-based think tank. Details right here.
