Sunny and Windy, Lex Needs A Home, Blog for Us

The National Weather Service says it will be sunny and breezy this afternoon and sunny on Memorial Day, too.

Today is May 29. It is the 149th day of the year. We are under a waning crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 7:59 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 67 degrees with windy conditions and gusts as high as 30 mph. It should be partly cloudy tonight with an overnight low around 54 degrees.

The forecast for Memorial Day calls for sunny skies with a high near 69 degrees.

2. Our Pet of the Week is Lex, a roughly 1-year-old Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix who is smart, happy and energetic and the perfect fit for someone who like to hike and stay active. Learn more about Lex and Animal Forte Rescue right here.

3. If you're a college journalism student looking for an internship opportunity, Councilman Bill Rosendahl's office has an opening co-managing new media content for the 11th Council District. You'll shadow and spend time with the communications deputy, get practical experience with new media platforms and outreach techniques, receive mentoring for professional development and establish professional contacts.

Candidates must be able to work at least eight hours a week for an entire semester, be enrolled in college and receive credit for the internship, and be able to commute to downtown Los Angeles. Preference will be given to those who are from the district. If you're interested, attach your resume to an email and send a link featuring  your latest published work to Tony Arranaga, communications deputy for Rosendahl, at tony.arranaga@lacity.org
