Sunny, Ex-Raider Faces Murder Trial, Blog for Us

The National Weather Service expects sunny skies this afternoon but the June gloom weather pattern continues.

Today is June 10. It is the 161st day of the year. We are under a waxing gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 8:06 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for today calls for mostly sunny skies this afternoon with a high near 64 with clouds tonight and an overnight low around 57 degrees. It should be mostly cloudy Saturday with a high near 64 degrees.

2. Former Raiders defensive end Anthony Wayne Smith and two associates have been ordered to stand trial in the 2008 slaying of a 31-year-old Lancaster man. Smith was living in Marina del Rey at the time of the killing. More details right here.

3. Complaints of closed and dirty restrooms have prompted the county's Department of Beaches and Harbors to hire 13 temporary workers to keep up with maintenance. Learn more here.
