Sunny, Pirate Pleads Guilty and Beach Shuttle Back

The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies today and Saturday.

Today is May 27. It is the 147th day of the year. We are under a waning crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 7:58 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for today calls for sunny skies with a high near 70 degrees with mostly clear skies tonight and an overnight low around 54 degrees. Forecasters said it should be sunny Saturday, too, with a high near 66 degrees.

2. A 10th Somali pirate has pleaded guilty to piracy in connection with the February hijacking of a yacht that resulted in the deaths of Del Rey Yacht Club members Jean and Scott Adam. Fifteen people were taken into custody by the U.S. military off the coast of Somalia. For more details, go right here.

3. The free Beach Shuttle that runs through Marina del Rey between the Venice Pier and Playa Vista is back. The shuttle runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. The shuttle provides service to major points of interest, including Fisherman's Village, the Waterside Shopping Center and Mother's Beach. A shuttle schedule with stops along the route and times is attached.
