Sunny Weekend, Park Viewfinder and Fireworks Warning

The National Weather Service says it will be sunny and warm over the holiday weekend with the coolest temperatures at the beach.

Today is July 1. It is the 182nd day of the year. We are under a new moon. Sunset will occur about 8:10 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 75 degrees with clear skies tonight and an overnight low around 64 degrees. Forecasters expect sunny days through the Independence Day weekend with highs in the upper 70s.

Forecasters released a special weather statement warning of high temperatures at inland areas over the weekend and said the coolest temperatures would be found at the beaches and coastal areas where the sea breeze will keep things cool.

2. Public safety officials are warning people about the danger of illegal fireworks this holiday weekend and advising folks to watch public displays instead of firing off your own. Details right here.

3. Burton W. Chace Park in Marina del Rey provides the backdrop for our latest installment of Viewfinder. Check out the photos and feel free to add your own. View the photos right here.
