  • A decapitated body found Tuesday outside a Culver City medical center was found to be the result of suicide. Culver City police and detectives closed nearby streets to traffic as they conducted the investigation. The man has been identified.
  • Join the conversation: Should you be fined for parking at a broken meter? The Los Angeles City Council voted 12-1 to override a state law that exempts drivers who park at broken meters from receiving parking tickets. Many Patch readers have weighed in with their thoughts. What do you think?
  • A Santa Monica violin coach charged in a molestation case involving two young girls has pleaded no contest. Julian Hallmark, formerly of Elemental Strings, signed a plea deal with prosecutors. His sentencing and probation hearing is scheduled for February.
  • A member of the U.S. Coast Guard who died in a confrontation with a panga boat was mourned by his former colleagues and local officials this week. Two men have been charged with killing an officer of the United States engaged in his official duties.
