Warm and Sunny, Actor Arrested and Summer Reading Finale

The National Weather Service says it will be warm and sunny with highs in the 80s for the next couple of days.

Today is Sept. 6. It is the 249th day of the year. We are under a waxing gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 7:14 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 81 degrees with clear skies tonight and an overnight low around 67 degrees. Forecasters expect a sunny afternoon Wednesday with a high of 89 degrees and clear, warm weather on Thursday, too.

2. Anthony Michael Hall, an actor best known for his work in 1980s teen movies, is free today after being arrested last night in Playa del Rey for allegedly disturbing the peace. Details right here.

3. Today is the first day of school for many students in the Los Angeles Unified School District. We want your back to school pictures for a photo gallery. If you'd like to share the momentous day with your neighbors, family and friends here on Patch, send an email to paul.chavez@patch.com with a name and school.

4. Our summer reading series here at Marina del Rey Patch has come to an end. You can check out the final installment about living the crazy life on a boat in the marina right here. Or, if you want to start from the beginning, you can go right here.

5. Marina del Rey Patch is (always) looking for bloggers. I know some of you have really enjoyed our offerings to date and we're inviting you to join those Local Voices with a blog of your own.
