Warm and Sunny, Lakers Lose and Bloggers Wanted

The Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa meet tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Today is May 3. It is the 123rd day of the year. We are under a new moon. Sunset will occur about 7:40 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 84 degrees with an overnight low around 58 degrees. It should be sunny Wednesday, too, with a high near 84.

2. Playa del Rey resident Phil Jackson and the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers lost last night at home in the first game of their best-of-seven series against the Dallas Mavericks, 96-94. Game 2 is Wednesday at Staples Center with a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.

3. Patch is looking for bloggers. We're rolling out a new blogging platform this week and are looking for local bloggers to write about whatever they want, whenever they want. If you're interested or want to learn more, send me an email: Paul.Chavez@patch.com

4. The Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa meets tonight at the Westchester Municipal Building Community Room at 7166 Manchester Ave. in Westchester. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. The agenda can be found here.
