Warm and Sunny, Rembrandt Recovery and Blog for Patch

The National Weather Services says it will warm and sunny today and Tuesday, too.

Today is Aug. 29. It is the 241st day of the year. We are under a new moon. Sunset will occur about 7:25 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for today calls for sunny skies with a high near 73 degrees with patchy fog after 11 p.m. and an overnight low around 67 degrees. Forecasters expect patchy fog Tuesday morning that will gradually clear to sunny with a high near 74 degrees.

2. Art security expert Anthony Amore has an article on the Huffington Post about how the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department used social media to get the word out on a Rembrandt drawing that was recently stolen from the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey.

3. The White House is asking Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to submit personal stories about people who have had an impact on those around them. The "What's Your Story" effort is designed to highlight community service by Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Participants are asked to submit a short video under three minutes describing unique experiences that have shaped who they are. Entries should be submitted online by Nov. 1, 2011, at http://www.whitehouse.gov/WhatsYourStory. There's a YouTube video describing the effort right here.
