Weather Forecast, Adams Remembered, Follow Us

The National Weather Service says it should be mostly sunny until midweek.

Today is Feb. 28. It is the 59th day of the year. We are under a waning crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 5:50 p.m. Here are five things to know about:

1. The National Weather Service forecast calls for sunny skies with a high today of near 61 degrees with mostly clear skies tonight and an overnight low around 43 degrees. It should be mostly sunny Tuesday too with a high near 62 degrees.

2. Playa del Rey resident Phil Jackson and the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers beat the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday 90-87 on the road. The Lakers play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday with tipoff at 5 p.m.

3. Family and friends of Jean and Scott Adam, the Del Rey Yacht Club members who were killed by Somali pirates last week, have continued to share their thoughts and memories of the couple. You can read the comments here and share your own too. The Desert Sun newspaper also recently reported that Jean Adam was the 1962 class valedictorian at Indio High School. You can read about that right here.

4. Did you know you can follow Marina del Rey Patch, which also covers Del Rey and Playa del Rey, on Facebook and Twitter?

5. We're creating a new Moms Council that we hope will range from the working mom to the stay-at-home mom to the stay-at-home dad to the PTA parents to the soccer moms. The Moms Council will use its motherly expertise to facilitate discussions about parenting and help guide parenting coverage for the site.
