Weekend Beach, Surf and Weather Report

Warm and sunny weather is expected for the weekend.

Los Angeles weather report:

Saturday will see highs in in the upper 60s and lows in the upper 50s. Patchy pockets of fog will hang around Saturday mainly before noon followed by mostly-cloudy skies, which will gradually clear up.

Sunday will see more sun with patches of fog clearning up before 11 a.m. to welcome mostly sunny skies. Highs on Sunday will stick in the mid to upper 60s with lows in the upper 50s.

Winds could be gusty over the weekend and reach as high as 20 mph on Saturday and 15 mph on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

A mixed west wind swell combined with a south swell will send smaller waves in the 1-2 foot range on Saturday with the occaisonal three-foot waves mixed in. Sunday will see little change in the surf. Water temperatures are expected to be around 60 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Los Angeles County Beach Grades:

The attached map is a water quality report for beaches in dry weather from March 26 to April 26 compiled from data courtesy of Heal the Bay, a nonprofit environmental group. Beach grades are based on an A+ to F scale. Grades indicate the likelihood of swimmers becoming ill. Water samples are analyzed for bacteria – enterococcus, total and fecal coliforms. The report does not measure the amount of trash or toxins found at local beaches.

Dark Blue Marker = A+

Light Blue Marker = A

Green Marker = B

Yellow Marker = C

Pink = D

Red Marker = F

Purple Marker = No sample taken
