Youngest Sailor to Circumnavigate the Globe Selling Boat

Boat is ready to "go around the world."

The Sunderland family is selling the sailboat that Zac Sunderland circumnavigated the world with in 2009 out of Marina del Rey, making him the youngest solo sailor to do so at the time.

Sunderland was 17 when he completed his 13-month journey around the globe on the Intrepid, a 36-foot Islander listed for $59,000 by Purcell Yachts of Marina del Rey.

His younger sister, Abby Sunderland, also attempted to sail alone around the world as a teenager, but a wave that broke her boat’s mast about 2,000 miles west of Australia caused her to abandon her feat.

In 2010 however, Australian Jessica Watson, then 16, ousted Zac Sunderland as the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe.

“Intrepid is fitted with everything you need to go around the world,” the ad reads. “Feeling adventurous? She is ready to go again!”

Zac Sunderland piloted the Intrepid about 28,000 nautical miles during his voyage.
