Fishing for Water on Mars!

info you can use regarding the Speaker for the night of November 13th 2014

Jen Shechet grew up in Los Angeles, sailing with her grandparents for all of her childhood, and eventually became a sailing instructor at DRYC. She attended college and grad school at Washington University in St. Louis getting degrees in Earth and Planetary Science. After college, she moved to Washington DC to work at the National Air & Space Museum. She is currently a research scientist at Caltech working on the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity rover mission. Her talk, “Fishing (for habitable environments) on Mars” will talk about the rover’s latest science results, with lots of beautiful pictures from the Martian surface!

Jen, did this talk at the Del Rey Yacht club to a large group. She was well received and great. Her pictures of the Curiosity Rover on Mars and the pictures that it took of the Mars surface are awesome+. As well as how the complicated landing took place and the years of research. Was there water on Mars? Yes, along time ago. Were there fish?

Come to the talk and find out.

MDRA Director and Meeting chairman

Best Wishes for Tight Lines,
