Free Paper Shredding Event at Water and Power Community Credit Union

Water and Power Community Credit Union (WPCCU) is hosting a free paper shredding event for the public on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. WPCCU’s goal is to recycle 10,000 lbs of paper collected from the four branches.

According to a recent FTC report, identity theft was the top nationwide consumer complaint in 2013. Shredding sensitive and confidential documents is an easy way for consumers to protect themselves and the beginning of spring the perfect time to reduce clutter.

In honor of Financial Literacy Month, participants will learn about the credit union’s free resources that can help its members create efficient budgets for a more secure future.

Attendees can bring up to five boxes or bags of paperwork, including bank statements, receipts, tax records and financial statements, for easy, safe and secure shredding. Games and giveaways like eco-friendly tote bags and water bottles will be included in this fun mid-day event.
