Community Corner

Green Apple Day of Service

This year Short Avenue Elementary School is thrilled to expand their traditional beautification day to also be a part of the transformative Green Apple Day of Service.  Your participation Saturday morning, September 28, is guaranteed to fill you with a sense of pride, satisfaction and camaraderie as parents, students, teachers, friends and neighbors come together to beautify our Short Avenue campus.

To enhance the educational component of greening our school, experts  will discuss renewable energy (Steve Factor from Solar City) and water conservation with the Department of Water and Power Speakers Bureau.

Among the days activities are tree trimming, boxing and planting new gardens, creating recycled bottle herb garden, possible wheelbarrow rides, making new friends and enjoying a day in the fresh air. Bring your work gloves, wheelbarrows, clipping shears, shovels, rakes and other garden tools.

This community and family-friendly activity is fun for everyone! Refreshments will be provided.  Enter the school from the Beethoven (south) entrance, by the teachers parking lot.  Don’t forget to put on some sunscreen and bring a hat.
