Well, it’s a nice dream, anyway. Just imagine Kate and William riding from LAX in their Range Rover limo with their little Prince George to the Ballona Discovery Park, next to Playa Vista Elementary School! What a scene it would be for the school kids there, as the Royal Family enjoys the native flowers in the Kids Pollinator Garden, or the swallow nest boxes hand-painted by school parents. The young Prince would hear stories of the Ballona Native American ancestors spoken from the “Ki” built in Discovery Park. Let’s practice our bows and curtseys, just in case.
Ballona Discovery Park was built by a three way partnership of Friends of Ballona Wetlands, Loyola Marymount University and Playa Capital, and is open to the public. It contains a scale model of the watershed and interactive interpretive displays telling the story of the Ballona Watershed and Wetlands in both little kid and big kid languages.
Go see Ballona Discovery Park, on the south side of Bluff Creek Drive, just a few clicks east of Lincoln Blvd. Bring your little kids, if you got em! They’ll love the hands-on learning.
