Grammy-winning bassist/arranger John Clayton Jr.(http://www.johnclaytonjazz.com/index.php) will join his high school jazz band, the Venice High Crescendos, for a reunion concert June 25. Clayton, his renowned saxophonist brother, Jeff, and other ex-Crescendos including saxophonist Pete Christlieb (http://www.petechristlieb.com/), will participate in the reunion, part of the Venice High 100th Anniversary celebrations. The Crescendos won the citywide high school "Battle of the Bands" at the Hollywood Bowl in 1971, and many members of that band will be on hand. The concert is also in tribute to the late Venice High band director, Billy E. Paney.
