National “Day For Kids” Comes to Los Angeles: Pop star Beck G, Laker Girls Highlight Activities

On Saturday, September 14 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Central Park, Playa Vista, 12045 Waterfront Drive, Los Angeles adult volunteers representing several major corporations including Coca-Cola, Bank of America, Nestle USA will participate in a series of fun-filled activities such as leap frog and tug of war to benefit with Boys & Girls Club of Venice club members. The event is highlighted by a special appearance by pop sensation Becky G who recently released music video “Becky from the Block” featuring Jennifer Lopez, and the world famous Laker Girls.  

Boys & Girls Clubs of East Valley and Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica are also participating in the “Day For Kids” event – a fun-filled national initiative which seeks to engage adults to advocate for youth and make a difference by participating in field day activities, like relay races and tug-of-war, while supporting the life-changing work taking place at Boys & Girls Clubs.

Los Angeles “Day For Kids” is part of a national effort by Boys & Girls Clubs of America to encourage youth advocacy and to champion the importance of youth outcomes around education, healthy lifestyles and character development.  Local Boys & Girls Clubs will host the Day for Kids community event on September 14. Additionally, Boys & Girls Clubs around the country will host one-day events during the month of September.

On this day alone, 4,400 young people will be arrested, 15.1 million school-aged children will be home without adult supervision after school and 16.1 million youth are living in poverty. America’s youth are in crisis and Boys & Girls Clubs of East Valley, Santa Monica and Venice are hosting a special event in its city to raise visibility for the difficult issues many youth face that negatively impacts their transition to adulthood.
