Del Rey Shooting Death May Have Been Result of Self Defense
Prosecutors will decide whether or not the shooting was in self defense or not.
Prosecutors on Wednesday were attempting to determine whether Monday night's shooting death in Del Rey was the result of self defense.
The Daily Breeze reported that a Del Rey homeowner shot and killed a man who allegedly beat one of the homeowner's tenants and then pulled a knife on the homeowner before he was shot.
The victim has been identified as Hunter Christian Merkel, 27. The homeowner, who has not been identified, was not arrested, the newspaper reported.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 4700 block of La Villa Marina, according Sgt. April Harding of the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Station.
