Update: Deputies Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect in Marina del Rey

A suspect who tried to rob the Bank of America branch on Admiralty Way is apprehended by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies.

A man who attempted to rob a Bank of America branch in Marina del Rey was quickly arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies before any money was taken, officials said Wednesday.

The attempted robbery occurred about 1:03 p.m. Tuesday at the Bank of America branch at 4754 Admiralty Way, said Deputy Bill Brauberger with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. A man handed a teller a note and during a brief conversation indicated it was a robbery attempt, Brauberger said.

Deputies at the Marina del Rey sheriff's station were notified and quickly responded to the scene and arrested the man before any money could be taken, Brauberger said.

The suspected bank robber has been identified as Christopher Bailey, 25, of St. Louis, MO, who is believed to be a transient. Bailey is being held on $50,000 bail and the case will be presented Thursday to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to determine if charges will be filed, Brauberger said.
