Free CPR Classes in Marina del Rey

The L.A. County Fire Department wants to help you learn to save a life at next week's event.

A "Sidewalk CPR" event is coming to Marina del Rey Thursday, June 7.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department hopes to offer an easy way for people to learn basic, hands-only CPR for free during next week's event. While CPR certification will not be offered, participants will learn life-saving techniques in a short amount of time.

"We want to get as many people trained in CPR as we can in one day," said Maria Grycan, community services liaison for the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Division 7. "It will only take five to ten minutes of their time."

The "Sidewalk CPR" event is a joint collaboration with the American Heart Association. Grycan said they hope to make it an annual event.

The classes will take place from 4-8 p.m. at Waterside Shopping Center, at 4766 Admiralty Way, next to the U.S. post office. Reservations are not required.
