A 31-year-old Torrance man who has been jailed since October on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle now also faces seven counts of commercial burglary in connection with a string of crimes in Manhattan Beach, police said.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County sheriff's Marina Del Rey Station on Oct. 29 arrested Dylan Meek on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, said Manhattan Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Martin. He was also found with property that had been reported stolen from three businesses in Manhattan Beach, she said.
An investigation that included a warrant search of Meek's residence connected him to 16 burglaries that occurred in October along Rosecrans Avenue in Manhattan Beach at businesses that included Raleigh Studios and the Manhattan Beach Country Club, Martin said.
On Monday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office charged Meek with seven counts of commercial burglar, she said. His bail was set at $1 million.
Meek is charged with stealing cash, electronic items, tools, movie and television props, credit cards and checks, Martin said. He is being held at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic and is due in Torrance Superior Court on June 25, according to sheriff's online booking records.
