L.A. Police Search for Parolee in Marina Peninsula Comes Up Empty

Los Angeles Police Department officers briefly set up a perimeter Tuesday night in the area south of the Venice Pier and use a helicopter to look for a parolee-at-large.

Los Angeles Police Department officers cordoned off parts of the Marina Peninsula on Tuesday night as they searched in vain from the air and on foot for a parolee-at-lage.

"He got a jump on them, because he was on a bike," Lt. Mark Day of the LAPD's Pacific Division said. "He spotted the officers, and he took off."

The suspect was spotted around 9:30 p.m. and allegedly has been involved in a lot of thefts, Day said. There was no immediate information on the suspect's criminal history that landed him on parole.

Police blocked off the end of Washington Boulevard, and partway down the peninsula between Pacific Avenue and Strongs Drive for a little less than an hour before calling off the search.

"He's got several places in there, and they think he's gotten indoors," Day said. "But we know who he is."
