Lifeguard SUV Hits Pedestrian on Bora Bora Way

Woman was exercising near the fire lane.

A vehicle that was part of the emergency crew responding to a call of a distressed plane in the Marina, which ended up being a false alarm, struck a woman at about 11:45 a.m. on Bora Bora Way as she was exercising next to Del Rey Landing.

The woman, who is about 35-years-old, was apparently doing push ups in the fire lane and watching an exercise video on her computer on the ground when the yellow L.A. County Lifeguard Ford Escape SUV hit her.

“She was screaming for a while,” said Miles Benedict who lives in an apartment on the 13800 block of Bora Bora Way and witnessed the incident from his balcony.

Benedict said that the woman often exercises in the area, and that the vehicle ran over her chest and then backed off of her.

California Highway Patrol was called to the scene, but neither CHP officers, L.A. county lifeguards nor firefighters were willing to disclose more information on the incident. The woman was taken to the hospital and her condition is unknown at this time.
