A man drowned this morning in the pool at the Sheraton Hotel near Los Angeles International Airport, and Los Angeles police were investigating who he was and why he was in the pool at that hour, a sergeant said.
The drowning at the Sheraton Hotel at 9750 S. Airport Blvd. was reported at 1:22 a.m., said Sgt. Laura Curtin of the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Station.
The man was pulled from the pool by good Samaritans at the hotel and pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles firefighters, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
"We're investigating whether it was an accident or intentional," Curtin said.
Investigators were looking for surveillance video. "We have to find out if he was registered at the hotel or supposed to be there," she said.
