Man Found Shot to Death in Marina del Rey

The homicide is believed to be the first one in Marina del Rey in six years.

A security guard was found shot to death Monday morning at a Marina del Rey apartment complex where he worked, according to authorities and broadcast reports.

The sheriff's department was called to the 4200 block of Via Marina Court at 2:48 a.m., said Sgt. Amore Smith of the Sheriff's Marina del Rey Station.

Authorities withheld the name of the man, who was in his 40s, pending notification of his relatives, the coroner's office reported. The man was found shot to death outdoors, said Smith.

The shooting was outside the Shores apartment complex, where the victim worked at the location, according to broadcast reports.

"He was very friendly ... very, very welcoming," a resident told Fox11. "We'd see him on the property, walking around in the garages. The security is very good here."
