Man Suffers Minor Injuries After Boating Accident

The accident is under investigation.

A man riding on the bow of a boat in Marina del Rey harbor on Tuesday fell overboard and was struck by the propeller, causing minor lacerations to his body.

The boat was cruising at about 8 knots and the man fell approximately 200 yards east of the entrance to the breakwater. Boat passengers pulled the man from the water and transported him to the Marina del Rey sheriff station dock, where paramedics treated the victim for non life-threatening injuries.

“I have seen many propeller injuries and this man was very fortunate,” said Sheriff Deputy Bryan White.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the boating accident.
