The shooting occurred Monday night on La Villa Marina.

By City News Service

Police on Tuesday were investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Del Rey.

A man called police around 7:30 p.m. Monday to report that another man had been shot in the 4700 block of La Villa Marina, said Sgt. April Harding of the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Station.

The caller led police to the body of the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Harding said, adding without elaboration that police took the caller into custody.

The shooting call came just moments after a man reported that he had been accosted in the same area by a knife-wielding male on a bicycle, Harding said.
