CHP Reports 1 Memorial Day Weekend Traffic Fatality

California Highway Patrol also arrests more than 250 people in Los Angeles County on suspicion of drunken driving.

The California Highway Patrol reported on Monday one traffic-related death on Los Angeles County highways during the first 60 hours of this year's three-day Memorial Day weekend.

The lone fatality was a woman killed when she was thrown from a car during a wreck on the Harbor (110) Freeway, just south of downtown at 3:50 a.m.

The reporting period began at 6:01 p.m. Friday and concluded at 6 a.m. Monday. During that same reporting period last year, there were three traffic-

Statewide, this year, there were 11 fatalities, compared with 13 during the same time period last year.

In Los Angeles County, CHP officers arrested 258 motorists on suspicion of drunken driving, down from last year's total of 298.

CHP officers in Orange County made more suspected drunken driving arrests this year than last, officials said. Officers arrested 60 drivers who were allegedly under the influence this year compared with 50 during the same time period in 2011.

Statewide, the CHP reported 1,161 DUI arrests, in comparison to last year's total of 1,223.

Thank Glenn E. Grab for taking the time to send an answer. I agree with you, it would be blue IRead More think.
