Police Blotter: Hog Vandalized, Locker Mischief and Child Abuse

A Harley-Davidson motorcycle vandalized, another gym locker burglary and a child abuse report among the latest crimes.

Crime in and near Marina del Rey in recent weeks ranged from a motorcycle being vandalized to a report of child abuse. All the crimes occurred within the patrol area of the .

HOG VANDALIZED

A man reported that his 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was vandalized Jan. 18 when someone cleave scratch marks all over it, according to a sheriff deputy's report.

The $10,000 motorcycle was parked in his stall and the man told deputies that he recently had a problem with a man named Dave. The man said he hired Dave to do some work on his boat for $800, but he wasn't happy with the work and only paid Dave $500. The man said Dave had been causing "disturbances" in an attempt to get his money back. The motorcycle rider said that Dave knew where he parked his motorcycle.

A fingerprint deputy was requested because there were some prints visible on the rear storage compartment of the motorcycle.

LOCKER MISCHIEF

People working out an area gym have had their locks broken or stolen over the past several months and another incident recently occurred, according to a deputy's report.

The latest locker mischief took place Dec. 28 when a man locked up his belongings about 11:35 p.m. at a gym. He returned to find his locker open and his driver's license, ATM card and a black Motorola Droid phone gone. Someone also stole a Chase credit card, a Costco card and a Best Buy card. Someone else's belongings also were in the locker and their driver's license, credit card and Motorola Droid phone also were taken.

Security cameras provide surveillance but there was no access at night to the tapes.

No arrest was made.

SUSPECTED CHILD ABUSE

A trainee at the Culver City Youth Counseling Center reported a case of suspected child abuse after noticing a 16-year-old girl with a black eye, according to a sheriff deputy's report.

The counselor said that the girl's father became upset with the child Jan. 21 over a cell phone bill. She told deputies that the father hit his daughter near her eye with an open hand. The girl's right eye was black and blue and she had a red blood blister inside here eye. The worker said the injury was still a week after the incident.

The girl told the counselor that her father also had gotten physical with her when she was in the seventh grade and he kicked her.

The counselor said the girl was not currently speaking with her parents, but that she was not afraid to go home.
