Police Blotter: Major Make-Up Theft and Woman Left Without Wheels

The theft of $30,000 worth of make-up, watches snagged from a ransacked house and three wheels taken off a vehicle among the latest crimes.

The theme of street crime in and near Marina del Rey in recent weeks continues to be theft, as these accounts demonstrate. All the crimes occurred within the patrol area of the Marina del Rey Sheriff's Station.

$30,000 Worth of Make-Up Snatched

A make-up artist reported that someone stole two suitcases and a tote bag holding $30,000 worth of high-grade make-up and equipment from her vehicle, according to a sheriff deputy's report.

The woman said the items were taken from her unlocked vehicle parked in the 6700 block of Springpark Avenue on Dec. 11 beween 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m., the report said.

The make-up wasn't the typical type found in stores, but a higher grade used for work in the entertainment industry.

Entry was made via an unlocked rear hatch window.

No arrests were made.

Five G-Shock Watches Stolen

Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a home burglary and found a ransacked home where five men's watches worth $600 were stolen.

Someone made their way into the home Dec. 22 in the afternoon via a window and then pried open a locked bedroom door to get to the watches, a deputy's report said.

Five G-Shock men's watches - colored red, blue, dark blue, black and white - were taken from on top of a bookcase, the report said.

Other expensive items were left undisturbed.

No arrests were made.

Woman Left Without Wheels

A woman reported that she went out to her vehicle Dec. 21 and found it on cinder blocks and a milk crate with three of her wheels and tires gone, according to a sheriff deputy's report.

The three chrome, 10-spoke Lexus alloy wheels with Michelin tires were valued at $6,000.

The woman said she parked her vehicle in her her underground parking spot about 7 p.m. Dec. 21 and noticed the wheels missing when she went to her vehicle the next morning. Both of the left side wheels and tires were missing and so was the right rear wheel and tire.

No one followed her home and the woman said didn't notice anything unusual, the report said.

A deputy noted that impression patterns in the dust near the missing wheels showed that gloves were worn during the crime.

There were no surveillance cameras in the garage. Security personnel could offer no information to help the investigation, the deputy's report said.
