Police Blotter: Wheels Stolen and Earthquake Kits Snatched

Recent crime in the Marina del Rey area includes the wheels being stolen from a BMW and two earthquake preparedness kits stolen from a vehicle.

Crime in and near Marina del Rey in recent weeks included a range of property crimes with everything from car wheels to earthquake emergency preparedness kits stolen. All the crimes occurred within the patrol area of the .

NO WHEELS

A man who sat down in his black, four-door 2003 BMW noticed that his car wasn't level and then determined that someone had stolen his two front tires and wheels, according to a sheriff deputy's report.

The man said that sometime over this past weekend someone stole his wheels and left his car sitting on a carjack. The tires and wheels were worth an estimated $1,070 and the rotors also had about $1,000 worth of damage, the report said.

No arrest was made.

Someone broke into a car and stole a black, 5-year-old iPod worth $300 and a $600 GPS system, according to a deputy's report. The theft took place between Friday at 9 p.m. and Monday about 8:50 a.m. when someone broke into a locked vehicle and took the items from a glove compartment.

No arrest was made

EARTHQUAKE KITS STOLEN

A woman reported that someone broke into her locked car the night of March 15 and tok two earthquake preparedness emergency kits worth $80, about 100 music CDs and a make-up kit valued at $100.

The woman said she knows he locked her vehicle because there have been other thefts in her apartment complex garage. She said when she returned to her car March 16 she noticed it was unclocked and the the glove compartment had been opened and papers strewn about.
