Police Report: Fewer Burglaries, More Auto Thefts

Statistics on violent and property crime provided by the Sheriff's Department.

While burglaries were down in August, there was a spike in auto thefts and petty thefts, according a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department report.

In July, there were 14 burglaries in Marina del Rey, compared to eight in August, and only one in June and six in May.

There were seven grand theft auto incidents in August, more than the previous three months combined. Petty thefts also increased about 66 percent from July.
