FBI Seeks Help in Identifying Robbery Suspect

The "Gone Plaid Bandit" struck a bank last weekend in Marina del Rey.

Update, 5:30 p.m.: The FBI has released surveillance photos of the "Gone Plaid Bandit."

Authorities have released surveillance camera photos of the "Gone Plaid Bandit" from two recent holdups, photos that they hoped would generate leads to his arrest.

The suspect, who earned the nickname from the FBI because he wore a plaid shirt in his first two heists, is one of the FBI's most wanted. He struck again on Friday and Saturday in Marina Del Rey and Los Angeles.

The suspect, who is wanted in a dozen holdups dating back to 2010, made his getaway on a skateboard in his last four robberies, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

His most recent holdups took place on Friday at a Comerica Bank branch in Marina Del Rey and on Saturday at a U.S. Bank branch at 157 N. Larchmont Blvd., Los Angeles, according to the FBI.

His heists date back to a Feb. 17, 2010, holdup at a Wachovia Bank branch in Fullerton.

Other holdups include:
   --Feb. 7, 2011, at Wells Fargo branch in Yorba Linda;
   --Feb. 11, 2011, at a Chase Bank branch in Anaheim Hills;
   --May 16, 2011, at an East West Bank branch in Irvine;
   --Jan. 6, 2012, at the Orange County Credit Union office in Yorba Linda;
   --Jan. 9, 2012, at a Chase Bank branch in Mission Viejo;
   --Jan. 18, 2012, at the same East West Bank branch in Irvine he robbed
in 2011;
   --May 11, 2012, at a Wells Fargo branch in Yorba Linda;
   --April 15 of this year at an Opus Bank branch in Yorba Linda and a U.S.
Bank branch in Laguna Niguel.

The suspect is a white man in his 20s to 30s who weighs about 160 pounds and is 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8. He has a thin build, brown hair and has sported a soul patch beard. He is seen in many of his holdups wearing a long-sleeved, collared, buttoned-up shirt with a baseball cap and framed sunglasses.
