Suspect Charged in Dec. 30 Killing of Security Guard in Marina del Rey

The homicide is believed to be the first in the waterfront community since 2007.

A suspect has been charged in the Dec. 30 murder of a security guard in Marina Del Rey. 

Suspect Byron Keith Street, a 47 year-old resident of Inglewood, will be arraigned on Thursday for murder, burglary, felony vandalism, and felon in possession of a firearm. according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. 

The victim, Patrick Odoikyene, was found shot to death at a Marina del Rey outside the Shores apartment complex where he worked. The homicide was believed to be the first in the waterfront community since 2007.

The suspect was arrested for an unrelated felony fraud charge by LASD deputies at the direction of homicide detectives the day after the murder, according to the LASD. He is currently being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
