Beach Commission Meets Wednesday

A regional sediment management plan and summer events are on the agenda.

The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors will meet Wednesday to hear a presentation regarding the Los Angeles County regional sediment management plan as well as discuss beach maintenance and upcoming special events. The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at at 13650 Mindanao Way. View the full agenda here.

Regional sediment management plan

A representative from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or Corps, will make a presentation on the Los Angeles County regional sediment management plan. The Corps plans to work with the commission to finalize a plan to be used to manage coastal sediment and help maintain healthy beaches in the area.

Special events

The commission will hear a details about upcoming special events, including those scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, as well as activities that are planned between now and September.

Beach projects

The commission will also be given a presentation regarding beach maintenance as well as a status report on the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors’ six beach capital projects.
