County Supervisor Yaroslavsky to Speak at Venice Neighborhood Council

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, whose Third District includes a portion of Venice, will speak Tuesday night at the board meeting of the Venice Neighborhood Council.

Yaroslavsky, 63, will address county issues that affect Marina residents. The topics will include: services and regulations at Venice Beach, including beach rules, beach maintenance, parking lots and bike paths; county services for the poor and homeless and Marina del Rey, which has several major redevelopment projects in the works.

Yaroslavsky was elected to the county board in 1994 and has been re-elected four times. He also previously served on the Los Angeles City Council from 1975 to 1994.

Yaroslavsky has considered running for the mayor of Los Angeles before and has expressed an interest in running for mayor in 2013 to replace Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who will be forced out due to term limits. Yaroslavsky's current term expires in 2014 and term limits will prevent him from running again.

In January, Yaroslavsky told Patch in a video that he would make a decision on running for mayor of Los Angeles before the end of the year.

The Venice Neighborhood Council board meeting will be held Tuesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Westminster Avenue Elementary School, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice. It is free and open to the public.
