Neighborhood Councils Election Deadline Approaching

Elections for dozens of board member seats will be held Oct. 28.

The deadline for candidates wishing to join their local neighborhood council is Sept. 28.

The Del Rey Neighborhood Council has 15 openings, and candidates must file their form by Sept. 28. The form can be downloaded here. Elections for the positions will be held Oct. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Marina del Rey Middle School.

DRNC has created an online map that allows residents to figure out what zone of Del Rey they live in by typing in their address.

"Our neighborhood council helped start the new Del Rey Farmers Market," Eric DeSobe, DRNC president, said in a statement. "People on the council got to see the process happen from the beginning stages to now  -- and we were major contributors to seeing this through."

The Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa is comprised of 31 volunteer board members. The positions open are seven residential seats, one at-large seat, one at-large affirmation seat, two business seats, one community organization representative seat, one education representative seat, one LMU representative seat, one service organization representative seat and one youth organization representative seat.
