New Docks Likely for Burton W. Chace Park

The plan will increase the number of boat slips.

The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors Tuesday will vote on moving forward with a dock replacement project for . 

The Board and the California Coastal Commission in 2011 a redevelopment plan in Marina del Rey that includes new apartments and upgrades to all county-owned and operated docks ajdacent to Burton W. Chace Park.

  • Forty-four reconfigured transient boat slips that will replace the exiting 33.
  • A 300-foot-long side-tie dock that can accommodate about ten 30-foot boats.
  • A 120-foot-long dock for water bus landing and boat sewage pump-out.
  • A 142-foot side-tie in front of the boathouse area and a 140-foot dock for 4-hour transient berthing. 

The new dock system will encompass the same land area as the existing docks, and construction is tentatively scheduled to begin October 2012 and end by September 2013. The project will cost an estimated $5.4 million, of which $1.3 million will be funded by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
