Supes Vote to Replace Outdated Boat Docks Next to Chace Park
Bids for the construction contract to replace the Anchorage 47 docks, built in the early 1970s, will be accepted beginning Aug. 5.
The Board of Supervisors voted today to spend $15.5 million to replace the outdated boat docks next to Burton Chace Park in Marina del Rey.
Once reconfigured, Anchorage 47 will include 11 docks with 253 boat slips, 77 fewer than currently available. However, the new slips will better accommodate larger, modern boats and comply with Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines, according to county officials.
An adjacent boardwalk, parking area and restroom will also be be upgraded to meet building code requirements, adding about $3.2 million to the project cost initially approved in July 2012.
