Trutanich Wins Knabe’s Endorsement in District Attorney Race

Knabe praises Trutanich as a prosecutor and manager.

Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich announced Thursday that Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe is endorsing his run for county District Attorney. Knabe, who represents Marina del Rey on the Board of Supervisors said in a statement,  “I’ve worked with LA City Attorney Carmen Trutanich on several public safety issues and I can attest from my first-hand experience of working with him that he’s a dedicated, pragmatic, and tough prosecutor who knows what it takes to oversee one of the largest public law office’s in the nation.”

Knabe praised Trutanich’s fiscal discipline saying, “he’s proven that he knows how to do more with less—even in these tough times of continued budget cuts. I’m proud to back his campaign for District Attorney, and I plan on doing everything I can to ensure that he wins this race.”

Trutanich said of Knabe, ““His endorsement shows that he trusts my ability to be a passionate and tough District Attorney, who will fight crime and work on preventative measures that keep kids from joining gangs. I am thrilled to have his support.”

Trutanich has lined up a number of high profile endorsements since he launched his campaign including labor unions, current and former elected officials from campaign co-chairs LA County Sheriff Lee Baca and State Superintendent of Instruction Tom Torkalson as well as former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan and State Senator Ted Lieu.

Trutanich promised not to run for higher office during his first term as city attorney but announced he would run for district attorney earlier this year even though he is still serving his first term as the city’s top lawyer.
