Playa del Rey Ranked Second-Hottest Real Estate Neighborhood in L.A. Area

Redfin releases its annual list.

Playa del Rey is likely to be the second-most sought after neighborhood in the Los Angeles area in 2014, according to a real estate ranking by the Seattle-based brokerage firm Redfin.

"Highly ranked schools and scenic community parks look like the obvious common thread among the top neighborhoods," wrote Redfin's Real Estate Data Analyst in a blog posted this week. "However, Redfin agents have found that the real trend in 2014 neighborhood popularity is a short commute at an affordable price. The trending neighborhoods offer a short drive to or easy access to a commuter rail line at prices that are not the most expensive in the city."

What do you think of Playa del Rey's ranking? Is this a good thing for the neighborhood? Tell us in the comments.

I always loved Playa del Rey. It is a quaint, quiet, family beach neighborhood. It has the feel of an European town. Fantastic beach, beautiful lagoon with lots of wild life. Ancient dunes give a charming back drop. Playa del Rey is my favorite neighborhood in all of LA.
