Meet the Media Day 2011

The Internet has made it convenient to pitch the media directly; however, most people need help learning how to approach the media effectively. Lisa Elia, CEO and founder of the Los Angeles-based firm, Lisa Elia Public Relations, is holding her second Meet the Media Day, where she will gather 300 entrepreneurs, 12 members of the media and special guest speakers for an information-packed day. It takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, at the Fairmont Miramar, located at 101 Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica, Calif.

At this event, attendees will have the rare opportunity to hear directly from TV and radio producers and magazine, newspaper and web writers and editors, what they like, dislike and seek when being pitched. Elia, who has spent more than 20 years as a publicist, has secured placements for clients with The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, USA Today, Time, Redbook, and hundreds of other outlets, will share her step-by-step plan for getting media attention and the newest PR strategies. She will bring volunteers on stage and conduct impromptu media training and coaching sessions and answer questions from the stage. Special guests will cover what’s new in social media, mindset and other vital information entrepreneurs need to succeed. Each attendee will receive a booklet containing specific PR tips, questionnaires and information prepared by Elia and her team.

The expert media panelists at this year’s Meet the Media Day include:
