Loyola Marymount University Student Makes Award-winning Film

Matthew Thompson's film is picked up by a distribution company.

A movie created by a Loyola Marymount University freshman and budding filmmaker has been acquired by ITN Distributions.

Matthew Thompson, who is a student in LMU's School of Film and Television, created his feature film, "Night Sights," while still a high school student.

"I started creating Night Sights before I was even old enough to drive a car, and when I think about the accomplishment my passionate team and I produced with such little time, resources and experience, I am very proud," Thompson said.

His movie won the jury prize at the 2012 National Film Festival for Talented Youth and earned the Silver last year at the California Film Awards, according to Julie Porter, communications manager at LMU's School of Film.

Thompson's work was also selected as a semi-finalist at the SpiritQuest Festival and was an official selection at Indie Fest USA and the Future of Cinema Fest,  Porter said.
