The Santa Monica Bay Restoration Foundation will hold its 8th annual Marina del Rey coastal cleanup day on Sept. 15.

Volunteers are urged to register for the event, part of the California Coastal Cleanup Day, as soon as possible. The foundation will be teaming up with the Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club for the second year in a row.

A limited amount of kayaks and standup paddle boards will be available to rent for volunteers. Registrations costs for the cleanup day are $10 with one’s own watercraft, or $20 to borrow one.

The kayak cleanup will run from 8 a.m. to noon and identification is required to use a kayak. The kayaks will launch from the Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, one of the key supporters of kayak cleanup. Other supporters include: California Department of Boating and Waterways, Hornblower Cruises & Events, Del Rey Landing, Ralphs, the Boat Yard and the UCLA Marina Aquatic Center.
