Welcome to the first three-day weekend of 2013! After a couple of weeks of being back to work after the holidays, it’s time to take a long weekend to unwind and enjoy some good ol’ Marina del Rey fun. With temperatures expected to rise back up to the sunny SoCal 70s (finally!), you can celebrate the long weekend, as well as Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, both indoors and outdoors. Here are your best bets for the three-day weekend!
FRIDAY, JANUARY 18
Although the weather is significantly warming up over the weekend, it doesn’t mean it’s warm enough to break out the shorts and sandals. So, for those of you who prefer to stay mellow over the weekend, why not head over to the new AMC Dine-In Theatres Marina 6 on Friday night to catch up on all of those Oscar-nominated movies you still haven’t seen? Even if Django Unchained or Les Misérables aren’t your cup of tea (or slice of white cake?), you can always check out Broken City with Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe, which opens this weekend (Friday movie times at AMC Marina 6: 8pm and 11pm.)
SATURDAY, JANUARY 19
Fisherman’s Village Weekend Concert – Blue Breeze
For all you funk and jazz lovers, venture out to Fisherman’s Village this Saturday and enjoy some smooth R&B courtesy of Blue Breeze. Between 1-4 p.m., the band will take to the stage and play a live concert outdoors in the plaza near the lighthouse in Fisherman’s Village. Admission is free.
